A Heart of Cork

Project Partner:
Gina Moxley, Comet Films
Date: 22 – 27 August 2005
Venue: Half Moon Theatre
Project Description:
Is art at the heart of Cork? Is culture a cult? Is 2005 a load of rawmaish? These were some of the questions that were asked and humorously answered in ‘A Heart of Cork’, the new performance written and performed by Gina Moxley and Donal Beecher.
This comic two-hander sought to decipher what Cork 2005 – and culture – means to the city and its people. A satirical theatre piece which represented both brows, high and low, with the contrasting perspectives of people who don’t give a about sh*t about poetry, plays and pictures and those who sip chardonnay at art exhibitions.
