Dreamtime 2005: European Children’s Theatre Encounter – Carnival of Dreams

Project Description:
Ireland’s National Association for Youth Drama (NAYD) hosted 140 European children for this two-week European Children’s Theatre Encounter. Children aged 12-14 came together from Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, and the UK to work together through the medium of drama.

The theme of the Encounter was ‘Dream Time’. Through daily workshops the children learned drama skills, exchanged ideas and devised and created an intercultural performance exploring how they see themselves today and what they see as their future potential.

The Encounter closed with a spectacular finale performance by the children in their carnival of dreams in Cork city centre.
