Project Description:
‘BangCork’ by Surasi Kusolwong was a large scale, open-air event, consisting of a market, music, a live Question Painting workshop and March and Thai massage.

One of the most important parts of this event was the contribution of the Cork community with market vendors, different community groups and artists. This colourful market installation, which was loosely based on a typical Thai street market, was located in Bishop Lucey Park, right in the heart of the city. Kusolwong's market was a fusion of performance and installation, and a collaboration with a real live market, creating an interplay between people, art and shopping.

By bringing together typical Thai and Cork products, Kusolwong intended for his market environment to be a space of both social and cultural exchange and a comment on consumerism.
