Project Description:
Bringing the national and international music industry to Cork, three forae covering different topics and concerns in the industry, took place over the year. Built-in to these events, musicians had the opportunity to meet with music publishers, managers and record label A&R for individual mentoring sessions relating to the development of their careers as professional musicians operating in an increasing globalised music industry.
A panel of Rory Cobbe (RTÉ), Colm O'Sullivan (RedFM), Tanya Sweeney (HotPress) and Jenny Huston (RTÉ 2FM) was brought together for Forum 1, Accessing the Media.
For the second forum, the panel consisted of A & R people from major music labels and was accompanied by an expo of emerging talent on the Cork music scene.
Ex-Killers manager Larry Little headed the third and final forum. He was joined by Philip Cartin, credited with discovering the Chicks and the Thrills and who now manages young hopefuls The Immediate; and local entrepreneur and music guru, Michael Carr.
