Project Description: Doris Lessing
A major series of readings by masters in writing to herald the beginning of a crucial year in the life of literary Cork. The great Kenyan novelist Ngugi Wa Thiong 'O, author of the famous novel of the African liberation struggle, A Grain
of Wheat (‘all roads to freedom were blocked’) was joined by Nobel Prize laureate Seamus Heaney, Doris Lessing, Paula Meehan, Nuala Ní Dhómhnaill, Greg Delanty and Claudio Magris in what was the most gifted line-up of writers ever to appear together in Cork.
