Date: 16 - 17 June 2005
Venue: ICD, Firkin Crane
Project Description:
Theatre Forum’s annual conference in Cork consisted of two days of debates, seminars, workshops and discussions with subjects ranging from site specific performance and the future of touring, to the next generation in Irish theatre.
There were ‘soapbox rants’ from some well known names in Irish theatre and the conference picked up on issues emerging during Cork 2005 with the theme of location. Highlights included Robyn Archer, Artistic Director of Liverpool European City of Culture 2008 and the Melbourne Festival; internationally renowned theatre and opera director Silviu Purcarete; Artistic Director Ben Harrison of the innovative theatre company Grid Iron in Scotland; Neil Murray the newly appointed Executive Director of the National Theatre of Scotland and many more.
Theatre Forum is the voice of the performing arts in Ireland. Members include all the theatres and arts centres around the country, professional drama, dance and opera production companies, and the main arts festivals. Local authority arts officers and freelance directors, set designers and producers are affiliate members.
