Project Description:
Eurochild, the annual arts festival that celebrates children's creativity and imagination through the arts, celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2005. Involving children from Cork schools and schools all over Europe, the festival nurtures the collective voices of children through workshops, performances and creative events. The 2005 festival took place in conjunction with Euro École.
The five-day festival had a full menu of events for Cork children and their young European guests. Events such as Mind Mapping Workshops with Tony Buzan, a sitting of the Children’s European Parliament in City Hall, a Treasure Hunt for the Key of Cork and the launch of the 2005 edition of the Eurochild Anthology of Art and Poetry in City Hall.
The Eurochild team received over 6,000 entries of art and poetry for the 2005 publication. 376 young artists and poets from 16 countries were published in the book. Some of the countries represented included Portugal, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Czech Republic, Malta, Ukraine France, Lithuania, United Kingdom, Spain, Finland, Romania, Germany and Ireland.
