Date: 7 – 19 March 2005
Project Description:
Cork’s inaugural St. Patrick’s Festival, was a brand new event running for three days – Thursday, March 17th, Friday, March 18th and Saturday 19th – bringing excitement, colour and fun to the streets of Cork.
The party kicked off with a Parade ‘Caravan of Dreams’ and continued with three days and nights of carnival on the streets, storytelling, readings, music, food markets, exhibitions and a fun fair.
An innovative Community Arts project called ‘Colour of Dreams’, which involved hundreds of community participants in association with professional arts facilitators, created a colourful extravaganza as part of a ‘Caravan of Dreams’.
For St. Patrick’s Day, a Food Market was open on the beautifully re-furbished Oliver Plunkett Street giving both locals and visitors the opportunity to savour the best of local produce, presented in association with city centre traders, the Slow Food initiative and Fuscia Branding.
