Project Description:
Celebrating the folk music of Europe, Cork and Ireland, the 2005 Cork Folk Festival was the greatest since its inception in 1979. A selection of Europe's top folk and traditional music groups performed in Cork over nine days. Headline acts featured Liam O' Flynn, Altan, Muzsikás and Márta Sebestyén, La Bottine Souriante, Eddi Reader and Carlos Nuñez. Other top Irish acts included a line-up of over 100 Corkonians including Freddie White, Four Star Trio, Pat Crowley and Johnny McCarthy, Alias Ron Kavana, Jennifer Clarke, Eoin Ó Riabhaigh and Steam Packet Company, Tomas Ó Canainn, Diarmuid Moynihan and a night of local songsmiths organised by John Leo Carter.
