Illuminations

 

‘Illuminations’, the opening event of Solas linked in with the annual switching on of the Christmas lights. The party on Patrick’s Street got underway with festive music from the Cork Pops Orchestra and a specially commissioned film on the origin of light was presented on large screens. The Lord Mayor of Cork was there for the big ‘count down’ to the switching on of the lights which coincided with a spectacular lighting show. There was even a surprise performance by celebrated flautist Sir James Galway!
