Venue: Significant Buildings in Cork

Project Description:

Cork Heritage Open Day was a unique event which celebrated the amazing architecture and history of the Built Heritage in the Cork City Region.
Over 30 buildings opened their doors free of charge for this special event. Members of the public were allowed a glimpse of some of Cork’s most fascinating buildings ranging from the Medieval to the Military, the Civic to the Commercial and the Educational to the Ecclesiastical. Many of these breathtaking buildings had never been open to the public in this manner before and were relatively unknown to visitors and the citizens of Cork.
Cork Heritage Day is the first of what is expected to be an annual event for Cork during Heritage Week. The event was greeted with great enthusiasm by building owners and members of the public alike with an estimated 5,000 visits made in total to the participating buildings.
