A rare bloodletting performance by internationally acclaimed performance and visual artist Franko B marked the beginning of an artist residency in Ireland by one of the world's leading practitioners of live art.
Oh Lover Boy
The room: a white room that feels like a life drawing/painting room but also like an operating theatre where medical students may go to learn about the human body. Stark white lighting focused on the body/object that lies on the bed to be observed or drawn. The body is on a large bed covered with white canvas painted white, bleeding from the forearms inserted with canal needle in each arm. The audience is seated on the floor like in an assembly or a life drawing/painting class. The performance lasts for 13 minutes then the artist leaves the room, the audience gather around the bed where a painting has appeared from the bleeding.
