A 100 person ‘Choir’ of performers headbanged to Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. This performance explored a collective hysteria and group energy.
The action pushes the body to the boundaries of physical endurance and brings out issues of shamanism or ritual dance.
As with all Performance Art the transference of energy between performers and audience was the most crucial part of the process. Amanda Coogan’s thinking behind proposing 100 people for the live event was the sheer weight and power of such an expression of energy from such a number of people should be a powerful one.
